June TBR (Pfft) Summer TBR (YES!)

I don’t usually post monthly TBRs because they always change. And sure enough, about a week ago I posted my June TBR and it’s already completely changed. I went to the library and got more books, which means those books take priority since I have to return them. So I thought, instead of doing a monthly TBR I should just do a Summer TBR.

These are the books I hope to read between June-August 31st.

Originally I had planned on reading:

DSC05907 I’ve read this book and it was awesome. 5/5

DSC05908

DSC05909

Then I went to the library and go these books:

DSC05912 I’ve read it and I loved it. 5/5

DSC05911 Currently reading it!

DSC05910

And then chose some more that I’ve been meaning to read for years.

Do you have a seasonal TBR or do monthly ones work better for you?

#AYEARATHON – Benchwarmers Days 4 & 5 update

24644390

I’m still reading Uglies. I’m at 41%. I haven’t read much this whole week. I have vacation but I’ve been using it to pack my things. Moving always takes time, but moving countries takes times and a lot of decision making. Getting things to the post office also takes forever if you don’t have a car. Anyway, the more I do read-a-thons, the more I realize that they’re not for me. I enjoy the month and year long ones because they give me a goal and plenty of time to read what I want, but the weekly and 24hr ones are hard for me. I like to read at my own pace and sometimes I just don’t feel like it. I think when I join read-a-thons I have this extra pressure which makes me read even less. Hmm… I’ll have to rethink how I read this year.

Anyway, I’m really enjoying Uglies! It’s a good book!!

My reading goal/challenge

IMG_20151130_210041

*I’ve actually already read Chasing Vermeer, Warm Bodies and Carry On

I have 42 or was it 43?… I have 40 something unread physical books on my shelves at the moment and I only have until March 20th to read them. I’ll be moving countries then so I want to read as many books as possible so I can start sending them home. I don’t want to send them all now and not have any books at all with me. I just can’t do that.

It would be impossible for me to read 40 something books in 3 months so I decided to set a more possible goal instead. I will try to read 1 book per week, which means that I can read about 13 books before I have to send them home. This is not even close to 40 but 13 is already a bit of a challenge for me. I’m a slow reader, plus, I don’t like to read for long periods of time. I get tired and then I get headaches, and it’s just not fun. My main concern with this is falling into a slump. Forcing myself to read too much might result in that.

Woo! Wish me luck!

Christmas Bookathon Book List!

December is almost here and you know what that means~~ Book-a-thon time!!

This year I will be participating in the Christmas Bookathon on Goodreads! This is my first bookathon with challenges so I’m very excited. That being said, my main goal for this book-a-thon is to read some of the books I already have. This means that I won’t be able to do some of the challenges unless I buy new books, which I really don’t want to do. I have too many unread books just sitting on my shelf.

The Christmas Bookathon will start on December 1st, 12:00AM – December 31st, 11:49pm. Join us for some amazing bookish fun!

Listed are the challenges and the books I plan on reading! I’ll probably update this list again. The challenges without a book are the ones I probably won’t be able to complete.

1) Read a book with red AND green on the cover.

Warm Bodies by  Isaac Marion

(some words are in green!)

2) Read a book set during Christmas or a Christmas classic

Hogfather by Terry Pratchett

 47998

3) Read a hardcover or paperback with either WHITE, GOLD or SNOW on the cover

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

4) Read a book set in winter

5) Read a book that you recently got as a Christmas present or a book that was recommended to you by a friend

[Will add it once I get it]

6) Read an author you’ve never read before

Kasmah Forma by S. Vagus

7) Read a children’s book set in Christmas

Russell’s Christmas Magic by Rob Scotton

8) Read a book that’s been on your TBR since last Christmas

Mort by Terry Pratchett

386372

9) Read a summer/holiday romance

10) Read a book that has a different cultural or religious aspect to your own

The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis

11) Read a book with the word Snow, Red, White, Green or Christmas in the title

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

LASTLY:
12) As Christmas is the season of giving – Donate a book/books to your local charity, goodwill or secondhand bookstore and if you can find a good book there buy one in return and read it.

The TBR Book Tag!

I wasn’t tagged by anyone, but I wanted to do the tag anyway. I love tags, they’re so much fun! I copied the questions from

afrolicthroughfiction

1. How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I use Goodreads. I’m on it everyday multiple times a day. Unfortunately, every time I go on I add another book to my TBR, so it just grows and grows and grows.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2. Is your TBR mostly print or E-book?
Print! I only read ebooks if I have to.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

3. How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

I’m very much a mood reader, so whatever I’m in the mood for.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4. A book that has been on your TBR the longest?
I’m not really sure but I think Wicked has been on my list the longest. I did start it once, got halfway done but dropped it. I do plan to finish it, I just need to feel motivated.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

5. A book you recently added to your TBR?

The last three I added are:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
6. A book strictly on your TBR strictly for it’s cover?
The Creeper Man by Dawn Kurtagich, I don’t know anything about this book, it hasn’t even been published yet, but the cover grabbed my attention. The fact that the title says “creeper man”, but has a picture of a girl is just so very interesting.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

7. A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading?

But… if I don’t plan on reading it…then why would it be on my TBR?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
8. An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for?
The sequel to The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. I’ve been waiting for years for a sequel!! How much longer will I have to wait?!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

9. A book on your TBR that everyone has read but you?

All the popular ones, seriously: The Hunger Games, The Mortal Instruments, Outlander, Fan Girl, Throne of Glass, The Maze Runner, the list goes on! The ones I’m most looking forward to reading are:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10. A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?
Clockwork Angel, because William… Also, because it’s an amazing book and series!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

11. How many books are currently on your Goodreads TBR list?

There are 499 books on my TBR list. Will I ever to all of them? I sure hope so! It’s certainly a challenge that I’m willing to take head on! Just thinking about it makes me excited! Ooh~ I can’t wait! Must read now!
