[Tag] Birthstone Book Tag

Tag was found @imanadventurest and @FableHaven. I was tagged by DrAwkto at The Inky Awkto, please check out their answers!

Garnet (January): Associated with warding off negative forces and dark energiesName a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of.

Forever Odd by Dean Koontz. The villain and her minions are just evil and insane. There’s no dark backstory or objective, they’re just evil and batshit crazy.

Amethyst (February): Purple is associated with royaltyName a book with regal qualities. You can base this off of characters or choose the King of all books.

In my opinion, the king of all books is The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide by Douglas Adams. It’s a compilation of the books in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series, plus one story. I love that book so much and, not counting Harry Potter, the first “beautiful” book I ever bought. It’s faux leather with gold letter and stuff. It looks pretty cool.

Aquamarine (March): Washed Out. Name a ‘wishy washy’ character. A character who is not strong or a follower.

Tally from Scott Westerfeld’s Uglies. She’s a follower in the beginning, but she quickly learns that not everything is as it seems. Though she does choose a side and stands up for what’s right, I don’t really consider her a strong character yet.

Diamond (April): A Diamond in the rough. Named a book that you loved, but that is not well known.

Spellbinder by Helen Stringer. I remember I absolutely loved this book when I first read it. I haven’t read it in many years so I don’t know how I would feel about it now, but it’s still one of my top books and it’s sadly gone virtually unnoticed. It only has 1,033 ratings on Goodreads.

Emerald (May): Said to balance energy.  – Name two characters who balance each other well.

Max and Kevin from Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick.

They’re so well balanced in fact, that they became one (not literally). Such a beautiful book!

Pearl (June): Associated with loyalty. – Name a character who is loyal to the end.

Does manga count? If it does then Gintama from Gintama by Hideaki Sorachi. Man, I honestly wish I had someone like him on my side. The friendships and bonds in this series are amazing.

Ruby (July): Blood red. Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry.

Wicked by Gregory McGuire. Hated.every.single.character!

Peridot (August): Pale green (it pales in comparison to other gems). Name a supporting character who you like better than the main character.

Luke from the Percy Jackson series. I like Luke probably a little more than all the other characters. Sure, maybe he’s going about it all wrong, but he makes a good point.

Sapphire (September): Blue like the ocean which is calming.  Name a book that had a calming effect on you.

The Name Of This Book Is Secret by Pseudonymous Bosch. All the books in this series put me in a good mood. I wouldn’t say “calming” but definitely good. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that made me feel calm, the emotions are too strong.

Opal (October): Iridescent. Name an iridescent book, this can be a book with a beautiful cover (Shiny? Lots of colour?) or you can base it of a character (Quirky? Colourful?)

Snuff by Terry Pratchett. The colors of that cover and quite nice with shiny gold letters.

Topaz (November): Associated with resilience. Name a book with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity.

Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz. Favorite.protagonist.ever! Odd has gone through such adversity, yet he never gives up or complains.

Blue Zircon (December): Associated with friendship.Name a book with a friendship you want to be a part of.

I’m going to have to go with Gintama again. Seriously, can we be friends?

Once again, thank you DrAwkto for tagging me! I had a lot of fun doing this tag.

3 Days 3 Quotes Challenge – Day 2

Once again, I would like to thank Kelly @ Stellar Scrutiny for tagging me! Check out her quotes!

Following yesterday’s quote, I give you this!

“We who survive must go on in the names of those who fall, but if we dwell too much on the vivid details of what we’ve witnessed of man’s inhumanity to man, we simply can’t go on. Perseverance is impossible if we don’t permit ourselves to hope.”

Words I try to live by. Despite all my positivity an optimism, sometimes I feel saddened and disappointed by the way we, humans, are. But we mustn’t lose hope, the world is full of good people and good things!

Today I would like to tag:

  2. I’m an only child.
  3. When I rub my eye, it makes a weird squishing sound (not always but often).
  4. I still don’t know who Iggy Az.. Azalea? is. Or that other girl, something something Del Rey. Other than a couple of bands, I haven’t listened to American music in years.
  5. David Tennant is my Doctor.
  6. Linkin Park started my love for music. Sure, I liked music before, but it wasn’t until I listened to Crawling that I started to really seek out music on my own.
  7. The very first pet that I bought on my own was a hamster and I named him Squishy. He lived for 1 year 8 months. Not everybody likes rodents, but I thought he was the cutest thing alive. I miss my Squishy!

New Year’s Resolutions Book Tag

New Year’s Resolutions Book Tag

Created by browneyedmusings and embuhleeiest

I was tagged by Sam @ RiverMoose-Reads to do this tag. Thank you for tagging me!!

Get in shape – name a book that doesn’t quite fit on your shelf correctly

Oh man, thankfully I don’t have too many “difficult” books but there is one that doesn’t seem to fit anywhere and that is “The De-Textbook: The Stuff You Didn’t Know About the Stuff You Thought You Knew” by Daniel O’Brien (of Cracked).

Eat healthy – name a book you feel was good for you to read

I’m a little confused about this question. As this is the New Year’s resolution tag I assume I’m supposed to make goals for 2016, right? So… I guess a book I feel would be good for me to read would be The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick. I haven’t read much Historical Fiction, I really think it’s time I do.

Read more – name a book you keep telling yourself to read but haven’t yet

Red Queen, Throne of Glass, and City of Bones.

Quit smoking – name a book you kept going back to even though you had finished it

I don’t usually re-read books.

Save more money – name a book you got for a really good price

Most of my Goosebumps books, I got them at yard sales!

Be more organized – how do you organize your bookshelf?

Alphabetically by author and in chronological order of release. I keep series together of course.

Be punctual – shortest time and longest time it took you to read a book

Shortest time? Probably manga. It takes me a couple of hours to finish one volume. I don’t really keep track of time.
Longest time? John Dies at the End by David Wong took me a month to read. Also, Terry Pratchett books take me about the same amount of time to finish.

Go out more – what book made you isolate yourself from the outside world?

Probably when I read Harry Potter.

Be unique – what was your favorite book of 2015?

This is hard I had a few favorites in 2015, but I guess my #1 favorite was John Dies at the End. It was a really good book, and I probably will be reading it again.

Be more personal – what book are you waiting for most this year?

I really want to read the sequel to John Dies at the End, This Book Is Full of Spiders: Seriously, Dude, Don’t Touch It.

Really, resolutions? – what book do you promise to read next year?

City of Bones!!! I have to read this book!!!!!

Yay, this tag was fun. The questions were fun! I tag YOU to do this tag!!! I hope you have fun doing this tag.

Siblinghood (Sisterhood) of the World Blog Award

I was nominated by Heather @ The Sassy Book Geek to do this tag. Thank you for nominating me! Woo~ tags are so much fun!

The Rules:

Thank the blogger who nominated you and link to their blog in you post
Answer the questions the blogger who nominated you provided
Nominate 10 other bloggers
Create 10 new questions for your nominees to answer

1) What is a food that you absolutely will not touch, even if your life depended on it?

Onions! I absolutely hate onions. The taste makes me gag.Sadly the world has decided that onions are important in cuisine, so almost everything has onions. As long as I can’t taste the onion, it’s fine.

2) If you could meet any author, who would you meet?

I would like to meet R.L. Stine, I would like to thank him for sparking my love for reading.

3) If you could have the next book in any series right now, which would it be (doesn’t necessarily have to be written yet)?

I would like to have the sequel to John Dies at the End by David Wong, This Book Is Full of Spiders: Seriously, Dude, Don’t Touch It. I do have it, but it’s back in the US. I want it with me now

4) Would you rather go to the library or the bookstore?

Bookstore, it’s easier for me to find new books there. When you go to the library you already have to know what you are looking for but bookstores are like a mini adventure! Fun times!

5) Paperback/Hardcover or E-Book?

Paperback, they’re lighter and cheaper. I also find them easier to handle.

6) New book smell or old book smell?

I like the new book smell~~

7) Do you like reading classics or new books?

It doesn’t matter. A good book is a good book.

8) If I gave you a bunch of money for books right now, which 4 books would you buy?

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone illustrated edition, Once Upon a Zombie, Warren the 13th and the All-Seeing Eye, And Then There Were None (but with the older title Ten Little Indians, I realize that that could be considered racist now but that is the title I read when I was young so I want the book with the cover I remember).

9) Most anticipated book of 2016?

I don’t really keep up with new book releases so I don’t know.

10) Are there any book-to-movie adaptations you’re anticipating?

I also don’t really keep up with book to movie adaptation news, so I don’t really… oh wait! Yes! Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Yay that was fun! It’s my turn to tag. I would like to tag:
