So I caved~ January Book Haul

I’m supposed to be on a book buying ban, but then I bought books. No regrets! I did pretty well I think. I didn’t buy any books for about two months and I read a lot of the books on my shelves! I also did smart shopping, I bought books I actually wanted to read and not just popular books.

There were some pretty good books on Bookoutlet’s 50/50 sale so I got them. I won’t be getting to them until May though. At least I’ll have have something to look forward to when I return to the States!

These are the books I bought:

Percy Jackson and the Olympians set, books 1-5 by Rick Riordan

– Ok, so this one I did buy because everyone seems to love it. I wanted to read one of the “newer” popular series (everything after Twilight is new to me) and I heard this one is easy to read. Don’t judge me! I wanna to be one of the cool kids too!

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

– I had been wanting to re-read this book for years!

The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

-When I first read the synopsis this book sounded amazing, I really hope it is.

These books I ordered from Bookoutlet

9781451626650-l   Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

– I wanted to read another classic. Especially one that everybody else read in high school, except me. I didn’t really know what this book was about, but the description makes it sound like my type of book!

9780785828099-lDante’s Divine Comedy: Inferno by Arcturus

– I’ve heard this book being referenced so many times, but I’m still not 100% sure what it’s about. I think it’s finally time I read it.

9781411415959-lDr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: A Graphic Novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, Illustrated by Andrzej Klimowski and Danusia Schejbal

– Guys, it’s a graphic novel. How cool is that?! It’ll go well with my copy of the book.

9780316014816-lDracula by Bram Stoker

– It’s about time I read this book. Seriously, why haven’t I? I’ve no excuse.

9780316769174-lThe Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

– I’m actually not sure if I already own this book, but I got it anyway, just in case. I LOVED this book when I first read it. I read it in high school, if I remember correctly, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever read. I haven’t read it since and I’ve heard a lot of current high schoolers say they don’t like it. I wonder if it’s the difference in generations? I graduated high school almost 10 years ago, so I’m not sure if that counts as a generation gap, but I want to re-read it with my current mind set and see how much I like it now.

9780141336534-lThe Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

– I read this book when I was young and I absolutely loved it. It was the first time a book made me cry, it was beautiful.

and finally

9780062085504-lShatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

– I really want to read this book!
